Giordano Cottur, born on May 24, 1914 in Trieste, was an Italian Professional cyclist from 1938 to 1949. This cycle path pays homage to the child of the country. It follows the route of an old railway line and is very pleasant, as it is mostly made up of fine gravel. It has great views as well as passages under tunnels and over bridges, a delight!

The route follows the route of the former Trieste-Hrpelje railway (Erpelle) active between 1887 and 1959 and dismantled in 1966. The slopes are slight and constant.

We look out over the Val Rosandra and bow in front of its wild beauty: the Cippo Comici, the scree, the limestone slabs, the Church of Santa Maria in Siaris; then the route climbs again bypassing Monte Stena to get to Draga Sant'Elia where, on the asphalted road, there is also a fountain.

Taking the Salamandra path you can reach one of the numerous iceboxes (jazera) and ponds present on the Karst. If, on the other hand, at the end of the cycle path, you turn right following the asphalted road, you can cross the Draga station.

Route done at the end of March with an ideal temperature. I would advise against walking it on hot summer afternoons.
