Bellmann's fountain was once built as a meeting place for larger companies. It is reminiscent of the bird catcher Georg Marcus Pöllmann, who was bitten on 31 August 1866 near this fountain by a common viper and died of it. Over time, however, the name Pöllmann changed in Bellmann due to the local dialect.
For decades, the fountain has been one of the most important destinations in Zwickau's city forest right up to the present day.

It is easy to rest at the Bellmanns Brunnen in the Weissenborn Forest Park in Zwickau. In Saxon Bellmann should be called Pöhlmann. According to a legend, the bird catcher Pöhlmann was bitten by an adder here in 1866 and died of it. In 1901, the Erzgebirgsverein Zwickau created an enclosure for this source as a souvenir to commemorate him.
Above the Bellmann fountain there is also a memorial stone for the 50th anniversary of the Erzgebirgsverein Zwickau, which was celebrated in 1930.
A refuge that also bears the name Bellmann rounds off this well-tended area.
