The Alte Emscher follows the original course of the Emscher in Duisburg before the river was shifted north due to subsidence. The Old Emscher has been lovingly renatured in many places. Following your progress is not easy. You can find a possible route here: komoot.de/tour/31709919
The Old Emscher is part of the Industrial Heritage Route.

After the Lower Emscher was relocated to Stapp, the Little Emscher only has a modest catchment area. Almost its entire length was dismantled as part of the ÖPEL program and made accessible via a fine network of paths. Only the crossing of the A59 is cumbersome.

This is a section of the "Alte Emscher", which flows here from the North Landscape Park westwards to the Alte Emscher pumping station [komoot.de/highlight/340051] and then into the Rhine. The “Kleine Emscher” is a little further north: komoot.de/highlight/324715
