The large Beilhack weir on the Prien branches off water for the Priener Mühlkanal, which once supplied 6 water engines with energy, at this once natural gradient. This weir is the typical design:
Instead of the small waterfall, a dam is built, the crown of which ends only around 30 cm above the bottom of the headwater and is around 60 cm wide. The edges are reinforced with concrete walls and at the end of the defensive wall there is now the protective system. Two modern free floodlights ensure that the congestion can be emptied for maintenance work, or that the water to the Mühlgraben can be drained into the natural bed of the Prien for a short time in order to stop the flow into the canal as quickly as possible and to remove the congestion.
The four-meter retaining wall, which is set up vertically and also stands on a massive base, is clearly visible. The stilling basin is fixed with concrete and made solid, the free floodlights also have a long channel so that the destructive power of the water does not have too much of an effect on the stilling basin.
