Hiking

The old water reservoir on the Süchtelner Höhen is one of the most important examples of the development of modern drinking water supply in Viersen and the surrounding area. It is located on the Süchtelner Höhen, a low ridge just northwest of the Süchteln district, at the highest natural location in the area, approximately 90 meters above sea level. This elevation made it ideal for collecting water and supplying it under pressure to the lower-lying urban area without the need for constant high pumping costs.
