  • The Schluchsee is always worthwhile, whether from above from various lookout points, or from the sea below: just a dream! ❤

  • Very clean lake in the Black Forest, well developed with hiking and biking trails and numerous bathing and relaxation possibilities in clear pleasantly tempered water. There are also possibilities for a boat trip around the lake (duration approx. 1 hour), pedal boats, rowing boats and motor boats can be rented. An introductory course for "Stand up paddling" is also possible in Schluchsee.

  • Small reservoir with very nice angles. Walk or bike the 18Km circuit right on the lake. Small section with about 3 km runs on the main road which is not so nice, but the rest is great. There are enough restaurants with a view of the lake for breaks. Have fun.

  • The Schluchsee is part of the Schluchsee works group of the Schluchseewerk, a series of reservoirs of different heights that are connected by pumping stations. The group of works stretches from houses to Waldshut. The Schluchsee is the upper reservoir of the pumped storage power plant in Häusern. This power plant feeds an average output of 100 megawatts into the power grid. In addition to the naturally flowing Schwarza, or the Ahabach and via the Windgfällweiher the upper reaches of the Wutach, the Seegraben and the Haslach, water from the Rhine near Waldshut is also fed into the basin by pumping stations.

  • Because of the altitude, the water is relatively cool even in summer. The Schluchsee is particularly popular with swimmers and sailors. In contrast to the Titisee, it has easily accessible banks almost everywhere, which is why the Schluchsee is heavily frequented in summer. The water quality of the Schluchsee is regularly checked at two bathing spots by the Baden-Württemberg State Institute for the Environment. It is a popular leisure destination for the wider area - even beyond the Swiss border. On the forest side is bathed naked. In the Seebrugg station building there is a diving center for diving in the Schluchsee. The Schluchsee is surrounded by a variety of hiking trails. The entire lake can be hiked around, this approximately 18-kilometer tour is largely flat and suitable for prams. From May to October, the hikes can be combined with trips on the excursion boat MS Schluchsee.
