The lower part of the former oil and fulling mill may have been a former bastion and gun turret. It is built with small rubble stones. The middle section consists of carefully hewn ashlar blocks, presumably from the demolition material of the castle, which was razed in 1680.

The ashlar blocks in the middle part of the mill are probably remnants of the razed fortress that stood in Bevergern for 600 years from around 1100. The lower part could have been a bastion tower. In the early 1970s, a couple bought the stump of the ruins and restored it so that it was habitable again.
