The "Ponte della Libertà" connects Venice to the mainland, it consists of two bridges side by side built in different eras. The railway bridge known as the "grand bridge of the Venetian lagoon", inaugurated on 11 January 1846 as part of the Ferdinandea Milan-Venice railway (then doubled in width around 1970 to bring the tracks from 2 to 4) and the road bridge the "Ponte Littorio ", inaugurated on April 25, 1933.
