Tips
Also known as "Castillo Nuevo", this Renaissance fortification was built under the reign of Felipe II at the end of the 16th century. Its purpose was military fulfilling the simple motto "I defend you and you defend me". Finally with the progress in siege weapons, the citadel was partially destroyed in 1888.
