The history of the Hotel Posthaus takes us back to the 19th century. In view of the Klausenstrasse, which is currently under construction, the brothers Josef and Otto Jauch von Altdorf acquired the Urigen property with a farm and an integrated Tell tavern. They built the Hotel Posthaus right next to the old building. Otto Jauch took over the property and opened the hotel in 1900, at the same time as the Klausenpassstrasse. Shortly afterwards the business as well as the old farmhouse and inn was enlarged, so that 80-100 guests could be accommodated in Urigen.
