The Dortebach valley was placed under nature protection as early as 1930 and is therefore the oldest nature reserve along the Moselle. After the last ice age, a special microclimate developed in the Dortebach valley, which offers a habitat for rare plants and animals from the Mediterranean countries, from the Black Sea and also from the Alps. ferienland-cochem.de/de/kulturweg-dortebachtalThe Dortebachtal nature reserve is a unique, alpine-looking, Moselle side valley of particular beauty near the municipality of Klotten.A remarkable and rare flora and fauna has settled in this valley. Follow the signs and logo with the lizard. They lead you from the hiking car park on the Moselle (B49) after 700 meters to a waterfall, which offers a welcome cooling in summer and grows into an imposing ice wall in winter.Serpentines take you to the mountain plateau in the "Klottener Neuwald" and to the "Annischerhof". From there you will be led past orchards to the "Kasteschkopp" lookout point, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Moselle valley and the vineyard terraces. From "Kasteschkopp" you turn serpentines to the bottom of the valley and then back to the starting point at the hiking car park.Route characteristics: sturdy shoes required
