1912; Fountain located in a striking urban location as an eye-catcher on the Obermarkt, octagonal, stone water basin, crowned by a female bronze figure (girl feeding the pigeons), made by the sculptor Völkering from Dresden. Octagonal fountain, four semicircular stone basins flank the fountain, fish heads spew water, woman feeds pigeons, planters as part of the fountain, material made of Bavarian shell limestone, donated by former citizen of Döbeln Johann Carl Gotthilf Schlegel (1827–1910).

When the ceremonial handover of the newly built town hall took place on October 14, 1912, the Schlegel fountain in front of the town hall was also consecrated.
The main figure symbolizes Döbeln's connection with its rural surroundings.
The pigeon girl is left-handed, which should emphasize the heartfelt gesture.
