The Sonntagshorn is a wonderful panoramic summit on the border between Germany and Austria. You have a beautiful view of the Chiemgau as well as the Kaiser Mountains, the Loferer Steinberge and the Berchtesgaden Alps. Several routes lead up to the summit, the ascent from the Austrian side is the easiest and leads from the Heutal first through a forest to the Hochalm and then up to the summit via serpentines.
The ascent from the German side is much more demanding and begins in Laubau. From there the path leads first to the Schwarzachenalm and then through the very beautiful but also steep Hintere Kraxenbachtal and then very steeply through the scree field below the summit up to the ridge.

Beautiful peak... The climb on the German side is not for everyone... On one side you have to climb 30-40 meters, on the other a long boulder field leads down over 200 meters of altitude
