The mountain school, housed since 1844 in the former Bergamt in Sangerhäuser Straße, formed a total of 3,650 managers for various mining branches until 1945. In 1903, a new building was built on Geiststraße, which housed the rebuilt "Berg- und Hütteningenieurschule" after the Second World War and later the engineering school for electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.
