The St. Annenkirche is the old Bergmannskirche of Eisleber Neustadt, which rises on the western hill of the more than thousand-year-old city of Eisleben. In 1514, the foundation stone was laid at the behest of Count Albrecht. In 1516 the choir was inaugurated by Archbishop Albrecht of Magdeburg and Mainz. With Caspar Güttel as preacher St. Annen became the first Protestant church in Mansfelder Land. Here also the first evangelical school was furnished. Güttel was described by Luther as a secret superattendent - as a reformer of the Mansfeld country.presence
The St. Annenkirche is one of the most beautiful Renaissance churches in Germany. While the chancel in its outer form still belongs to the Gothic, the vault is already designed in the style of the Renaissance. The church is famous for its stone picture Bible - a sandstone relief depicting stories from the Old Testament created in 1585 by the sculptor Hans Thon Uttendrup. The richly decorated pulpit and the beautiful coffered ceiling were donated by the official Joachim Tempel. The neighboring former Augustinian monastery founded in 1516 is also open to visitors.
