      Beberbeck horse
      becoming a pet:
"Horse breeding has a long tradition at the Sababurg. As early as 1490 there were reports of the "Sababurger Wilden" in the Reinhardswald. In 1724, a Hessian state and court stud farm was founded by royal decree at the Beberbeck Castle, primarily for the purpose of breeding cavalry horses From the end of the 19th century Beberbeck was one of the main Prussian studs.
"Beberbecker" horses were popular with the Prussian military and influenced many other European stud farms as breeding stock of very good quality. Above all, the Trakehner, Holsteiner and Westphalian breed has benefited from Beberbecker stallions, but today there is probably no German horse breed that cannot look back on "Beberbecker" in their pedigrees. All colors were present, with the exception of piebald, with the majority of the animals being brown.
In 1928 the stud farm was dissolved, the 160 remaining horses were given to the Polish state and the Polish stud farm Racot was founded with these animals. Only 48 broodmares survived the air raid by the German Wehrmacht in 1939, and they came to the Polish stud farm in Graditz in 1942."
