With its impressive evidence of the craftsmanship of Italian and German plasterers and painters, the castle church is a cultural gem of the region.
The historic Donat Trost organ is a particular highlight.
You should allow yourself enough time for the tour.

The Castle Church of St. Trinitatis in Eisenberg is a transverse church with a choir projecting to the east, housing the pulpit altar and the two-story organ.
With its stucco work and paintings, it is one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in Thuringia. Weddings, baptisms, services, guided tours, and concerts are still held in the church today. The €2 entrance fee for the church's preservation is well spent.

In the 12th century the city was fortified by Otto the Rich, which means the city got a wall. This is also where the construction of the castle complex seems to have started. It served to protect the western border of the Margrave of Meissen.
When Meissen was united with Thuringia in 1264, the castle lost its protective function. It was used by the House of Wettin as a residential palace. When Duke Christian von Sachsen-Eisenberg moved into the palace as a residence in 1676, it was in a very poor structural condition. The conversions of this time characterize the current picture.
168O to 1692 the castle church was built on the east wall of the castle. With its stucco work and paintings, it is described as the most beautiful baroque castle church in Thuringia.
The Kaisersaal in the castle can only be visited by prior arrangement with the district office.
