The Fischtalpark, which extends from Wilskistraße via Riemeisterstraße to Onkel-Tom-Straße, is located in a former egg-shaped channel. The gorge was once surrounded by forest and the farmers had let their “critters” graze on the damp forest pasture. Therefore, the pasture is said to have been called "Viechtal" at the time. Later it was called Fischtal or Fischtalgrund. However, no fishing was done here. The flat puddle only served as a watering place for the animals.
