The Romanesque basilica "St. Chrysanthus and Daria" was started around 830; from 1110 it had roughly its present appearance. With the transfer of the relics of the Roman martyr couple, the rise of the Prüm daughter monastery and the development of the town into a town began in 844. The high grave of the knight Gottfried von Jülich-Bergheim, who died on May 3, 1335 as lord of Münstereifel at the castle, is to be mentioned as a nationally significant art monument within the church.
