The A-bomb Dome has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. When you stand in front of the building, which is only a few streets away from Ground Zero, you become very reverent and cannot really imagine such a destructive force. The building burned down completely at the time, but its foundations were still preserved.

This ruin has become the symbol of the city and a diagram of the destructive power of a nuclear bomb. Opposite is the Atomic Bomb Museum, which is definitely worth seeing.
