The Swale Trail is ideal for families or gravel and MTB bikes but is a very gentle MTB experience and riders will soon yearn for greater challenges.
The views all the way up the valley are stunning, though and as long as you're not looking for high-octane adventure, you'll have a grand day out.
It gets a bit hilly beyond Gunnerside.

Part of the Swale Trail out from Gunnerside. Great valley ride and up from the old lead workings. Would have been better if the rain had not been torrential but par for the course on this day.
