Kirkby Stephen to Reeth. Bridleway up the Tan Hill road is not well used so need good navigation and a lot of pushing through the bog! Descent from Tan Hill on Pennine Bridleway is lovely (may be quite boggy if wet weather). Still quite a lot of ups and downs on Swale Trail to reach Reeth

Ambleside to Kirkby Stephen. Looong day. Nice start through the forest (would be nice to be going the other direction downhill!). Garburn pass - again biggish climb but fun descent (lots of baby’s head sized boulders 😂). Kentmere into Sadgill, Mosedale (bothy I want to come back to), to Shap. Then roads

Boot to Ambleside. Straight into a climb towards foot of Hardknott, then up to the pass next to Harter Fell, into Grassguards, down the forest (fun!), across the steppingstones and near Seathwaite. Ready for a big climb (push!) up Walna Scar Road, but worth it for the descent! Into Coniston (ice cream

St Bees to Boot. Cycleways/roads until you get to Ennerdale Water. Then a rolling forest road along the lake/river (you can go on either north or south side - depends if any forest roads closed for felling etc) to Black Sail Hut. Then a BIG push up Black Sail Pass. Nice descent off Black Sail, bit tricky

Reeth to Northallerton. Rest day 😂 in terms of climbing today! Lovely off road tracks towards Richmond in time for an early lunch. After that it’s mainly B roads, joined cycleway 71 briefly. Don’t feel you have to go as far south as Northallerton - ideally stay near Osmotherley to reduce next days distance
