Franz Scheriau started a private initiative years ago in the lower area of the Danube bank - near the Buddhist pagoda - and built a ship museum. He is happy to show the old one from the k. u. k monarchy-born steamship Frederic Mistral and tells historical stories. He also offers small excursions on his ships; you can also take a ferry across to the Danube Island from him.

Mountain biking

Ship museum with its over 100-year-old imperial steamer "Frederic Mistral", built in 1914, the icebreaker "Arthur", the old workers' ship "MS Josef" and the "MS Ana", the oldest passenger ship on the Danube from 1894. You can also book guided tours here, which are carried out personally by the captain and are supposedly peppered with many anecdotes.

It's unbelievable that this idyllic, privately run ship museum currently has to fight with the Republic of Austria to be allowed to stay here. They want the berth to be cleared so that it can be given to the best bidder.
