    The Lahnaue between Garbenheim, Naunheim and Niedergirmes belongs to the protected landscape area Auenverbund Lahn-Dill. It is considered a recreational area and is a meadow and pasture landscape, which is flooded for a short time by the Lahn depending on the water level. This fact makes the area interesting for many animals and plants that consider flooded meadows as their habitat. Despite large parts, which are used in landscape, here rare bird species such as lapwing and yellow wagtail can hold. Also rare butterflies and dragonflies can be observed.
