The town hall of the city of Meißen is considered the oldest of its kind in the Saxony area. The imposing building is located directly on the Meißner Markt and is today surrounded by restored and renovated town houses from the Renaissance period. The town hall was built between the years 1470 and 1486. It was to serve as the seat of the town councilors from Meissen, who kept an overview of the city and all legal processes from here.
