True to the original house from the Bronze AgeThe pile-dwelling house is based on the archaeological finds from the pile-dwelling site on the Riesi peninsula, which protrudes into Lake Hallwil within sight. In 1923, the Seengen Historical Association under Reinhold Bosch examined a small section of the site and unearthed excellently preserved wooden pile-dwelling structures, including a block-built substructure. This still supports the floor of the pile-dwelling house today and raises it so that the house is protected from flooding - just as it was in the late Bronze Age around 1000 BC.The roof of the pile-dwelling house is covered with shingles. Hundreds of these have been found in other pile-dwelling settlements of this period. A wooden door closes the house.
