Which Frankfurt kid does not know him: the Struwwelpeter. A children's book by the physician Heinrich Hoffmann, written in the 19th century, which from today's point of view is not so educationally valuable, but nevertheless a significant cultural asset.
In 1985, the sculptor Franziska Lenz-Gerharz created this little noticed bronze statue in his honor, which is unfortunately sometimes confused with a trash can.

Many of the stories from the children's book can be found on the memorial - some of which you would rather not remember properly today.

"On both hands / he didn't get cut / his nails for almost a year. / He didn't let his hair be combed" - almost everyone knows the classic children's book by Struwwelpeter.

This and other figures from the picture book were immortalized by the sculptor Franziska Lenz-Gerharz in a bronze fountain at the Frankfurt main station.

Struwwelpeter has a very special meaning in Frankfurt. The psychiatrist Heinrich Hoffmann invented it in the 19th century and created an exaggerated educational-moral collection of stories with satirical moments. Above all, it is about disobedient children who do not listen to their parents and who therefore suffer disasters. And so not only in the book the cats Minz and Maunz cry bitter tears over the disobedience of Paulinchen, who went up in flames, but also in the well created by Lenz-Gerharz.
