This church was built in 1786-1787 (just before the French Revolution) and was not consecrated until 1855.
The tower is still an early Gothic relic. The reverberation holes are incorporated in pointed arch-shaped mouldings. This octagonal tower dates from about 1300, and was a crossing tower. You can clearly see that the underlying pointed arches (on the outside) were bricked up afterwards.
In front of it is a classicist facade.
The interior houses, among other things, a L. Van Peteghem organ from 1819. The main altar dates from 1759, and the choir stalls from 1753. You will also find 17th century tombstones.

The parish church of Sint-Niklaas en Leonardus is a simple hall church from the 18th century with a Gothic east tower. The surrounding cemetery has been replaced by a green plantation surrounded by a low brick wall and parking lot.

A typical place of worship in Flanders. A church that is central to the village center and where the community still lives around the church.
