There is interesting information about the ditch system at various points along the Morgenbrodtsthaler Graben, such as here. If you consider that such a system was built in the 1700s (1732-1734 was the construction period!) with painstaking manual work, as there were no excavators etc., the information about the construction is really interesting.

The fact that you can enjoy a wonderful extended view at various points along the ditch system is thanks to the bark beetle.
