The "Stone History Garden" is an open-air museum and is therefore accessible at all times. It is located on one of Horb's "local mountains", the Kreuzkapellenberg, directly on the Way of St. James, and offers a beautiful vantage point over Horb and the Neckar valley.
The "Stone History Garden" shows a piece of local history carved in stone.
The construction of the open-air museum began in 1979. In the meantime, the open-air museum has a stock of more than 70 small monuments relating to surveying, law and traffic. The stones, which are handcrafted for a very specific purpose, are important contemporary witnesses to local cultural history. They document borders or district boundaries in forests and fields. Some commemorate special events or people, such as accidents, wars, famines, murders or executions.
The "Small Monument Friends Horb and Surroundings" in the "Society for the Preservation and Research of Small Monuments in Baden-Württemberg e.V. (GEEK)" look after the system.
A description of the individual stones with the historical and folkloric background is available from the Horb town information office.
