The trig pointed top of Mellor Moor which at 327m is the County/Unitary High Point for Lancashire, Cheshire & the Southern Pennines. It is the only bit of access land on top of the moor.

Mellor Moor is close to Mellor Cross, offering a chance to see another historical marker. Combining these two sites in one walk makes for a more fulfilling outing.
Also, in the area is the remains of Mellor Mill, which has ongoing archaeological digs. So you can combine a walk with a bit of history.
Mellor Moor offers excellent views of the surrounding countryside, including Kinder Scout.
