The Sprottetal Bridge was opened to traffic in 1937. It led the highway across the valley on two separate steel superstructures on five pairs of pillars. The span is 180 m with a total length of 221 m. Abutments and pillars are faced with Lausitz granite. The building is a listed building.
As part of the three-lane expansion, the steel superstructure was replaced by a new, similar one and converted into a directional carriageway with three lanes and a shoulder. A second bridge was built to the south to accommodate the Dresden direction.
