The Vordere Langbathsee is the larger of the two Langbath lakes, which are embedded in the mountain range of the Höllengebirge in the valley of the Langbathbach near Ebensee. Both lakes are under nature protection. The Vordere Langbathsee warms up very quickly in summer and is therefore very popular with bathers. Walks around the lake are also possible, the hiking trail is also the connection to the smaller, Hinterer Langbathsee. The hillside forests that line the shore are characteristic of the Vorderen Langbathsee. In the area near the shore, beech, sycamore and ash dominate. Limestone blocks are scattered in the forest, which merges into a spruce forest at higher altitudes. Attentive observers will find rare plants on the tour around the lake, such as the Turkish lily, the deadly nightshade or even native orchid species.
