There is a small church here. This has its origins in the fact that at the end of the 19th century, after a terrible storm, there was only one tree left here on the Richtberg: the one with an image of the Virgin Mary on it.
The "Taferl" soon became a destination for pilgrimages and a small church was built, which was expanded in 1888.
Now, after more storms and probably bark beetles, you will find a quiet place here with a view of the foothills of the Alps, Traunstein and the Höllengebirge.
You can usually climb up from the town of Wessenaurach via the Way of the Cross, which is also well signposted. But paths from all other directions also meet at the “Taferl”.
