The Catholic parish church of the Assumption in Untereisenheim is located in the middle of the village near the former town hall on the church square.

In 1469 the parish of Untereisenheim was established by Prince Bishop Rudolf II von Scherenberg and the first church was built. The laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the “new church” took place on May 13, 1755 by Pastor Johannes Kaspar Englert; the master builder from Arnstein was Johannes Müller. Michael Anton Müller was in charge of building construction. Most of the money necessary for the new building and the equipment was donated by the townspeople. Furthermore, large sums of money flowed into the new building from the sale of wine. On October 1, 1769, the church was ceremoniously consecrated by the Würzburg auxiliary bishop Daniel von Gebsattel.

The church is centrally located in the beautiful wine town of Untereisenheim. Further up you come to the Hirn winery 🧠 with its great Hundertwasser architecture. Further down on the Main is the ferry that takes you to Fahr.
