The ferry was first mentioned in a document around 1400. Even then it was on an important traffic route between Bamberg and Würzburg. Even today, the ferry allows you to save a few kilometers to Würzburg.
Many guests come to us for a ferry ride. During an adventure tour with our tour guides, we dance the Main Loop Waltz on the ferry. Well-trained ferrymen ensure safe transport from “hest” to “dest”.

The small Main Ferry, already mentioned in the 15th century, transports pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles. She rides in summer and winter, but on different schedules. Information about the respective travel times can be found here:

The Main ferry "Schorsch" in Volkach in Lower Franconia is over 70 years old. It brings people from one shore to the other every day. Local residents say that the ferry is not just any means of transport for them - but much more.
In any case, "Schorsch" still manages to do a lot. "The capacity of the ferry is 32 people or three vehicles and then twelve people. Or then just five tons of weight from a single vehicle."
So "Schorsch" is not just a tourist attraction. The ferry also shortens and simplifies routes. This will primarily benefit the local residents. A car driver, for example, tells us that she uses the ferry every day to go to work. Of course, the ten-kilometer detour plays a bigger role.
