The church is known as the Grote Kerk (Great Church), but is officially dedicated to Saint Martin, hence the name Sint-Martinuskerk (St. Martin's Church).
Location and History:
The church is located on the Markt square in Dokkum and dates back to the fifteenth century. At least three wooden churches preceded the current tuff-stone church on this site.
Current Use and Accessibility:
The church is used by members of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN). During the summer months, the church is open to the public on certain days, and organ concerts are regularly held there.
