Schwedenplatz is located in Vienna's 1st district, Innere Stadt, on the right bank of the Danube Canal and is one of the most important public transport hubs in Vienna. It represents an extension of the Franz-Josefs-Kai, which runs here. Schwedenbrücke and Schwedenplatz were given their current names in November 1919 by a resolution of the city council chaired by Mayor Jakob Reumann in gratitude for Sweden's help after the First World War, especially the children Vienna benefited. [1]
