Nice place to stop on any walk around Stratford-upon-Avon. Good views of the RSC Theatre and the river, close to town centre shops for food and other refreshments and plenty of space to sit and relax.

Running along the south side the river Avon and sandwiched between the RSC Theatre and the canal basin, a stroll or a picnic in Bancroft Gardens is at the heart of any Stratford visit, and indeed over a million visitors a year come here to sit and watch the world go by, listen to buskers or watch street entertainers. A statue of Shakespeare presides over a series of figures depicting some of the Bard's most famous characters – Hamlet, Lady Macbeth, Falstaff and Prince Hals – respectively symbolising philosophy, tragedy, comedy and history, and deckchairs are available for hire during summer months. You'll also find a small (and somewhat tired) crazy golf course and a number of football posts for those looking to burn off some surplus energy.
