What is so special about this particular lock? I hear you ask. Well, it is the final lock on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal where it joins the River Avon. It is situated close to the centre of Stratford, in the Bancroft Gardens area and so close to all the local amenities available there. There is a nice semi-circular pedestrian bridge right over the lock so you can watch the canal boat skippers navigate skilfully (or sometimes not so skilfully) through the lock. Canal boat tours leave from the canal basin down the River Avon, so you can experience a trip through the lock for yourself, and if you fancy a lovely meal while you cruise, try the Countess of Evesham. A special treat especially on an evening cruise
