The Glen Aulin Trail begins at Tuolumne Meadows and follows the Tuolumne River, winding through stunning landscapes filled with waterfalls, towering granite cliffs, lush meadows, and vibrant forests.

The trail starts with an easy to moderate stroll alongside the river. A short half-mile walk from the parking area offers informational kiosks highlighting the area's ecology, wildlife, history, and geology. After about four miles, the trail becomes steeper as you descend cobblestone steps leading to the backpacker’s camp. Here, you'll be treated to breathtaking waterfalls before reaching the meadows of Glen Aulin.

Yosemite is wonderful, at over 8,000 feet still hiking through lush forests is terrific. We opted for this nice hike to the Waterwheel Falls and were not disappointed - pleasantly warm, lots of shade and always accompanied by gentle splashing, you could really relax, as long as we only met other hikers every now and then . Also we sighted deer and stags, which are far less shy than in our forests (Hunting ban : ) and can therefore be observed in peace

A little additional info: in the USA the tree line is over a thousand meters higher than in Germany

Small note ~ the last photo of the little black bear is from 2009 when we did the less spectacular Mirror Lake Trail which made this little hike very special
