At the top of Vernal Fall, a viewpoint with a metal safety fence offers incredible views of the river, gorge, forests, and massive granite rock formations. Arriving early avoids waiting in line for a photo. Despite the many steps, the climb is rewarding, and trekking poles can be helpful on the uneven steps and steep inclines. Vernal Falls stands at 317 feet tall and is one of Yosemite's most powerful waterfalls.
