The Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere stands on a hill in Fossacesia and dominates a stretch of the Costa dei Trabocchi from above. It consists of a basilica and a monastery which were built around the year 1000 on the remains of an ancient pagan temple dedicated to Venus. The abbey is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that extend as far as the eye can see and from its belvedere you can enjoy an incomparable view of the waters of the Gulf of Venus.

The monastic complex of San Giovanni in Venere consists of a basilica and the nearby monastery, both built at the beginning of the 13th century. The position is very panoramic: it is on a hill overlooking the nearby coast for several kilometers to the north and to the south.
