The five-story Martinstor, also known as the Lindau Gate, built of argentinian pebbles and bricks, is one of the three remaining city gates of Wangen im Allgäu, along with the Frauentor and the Pfaffentor at the town hall. The other two were demolished in the 19th century.

St. Martins Gate, Wangen im Allgäu
At the entrance to Paradiesstrasse is the St. Martin's Gate (named after the patron of the neighboring parish church), now also called Lindauer Tor. It was first mentioned in 1347 as Sweglarstor (after the Sweglar family). Like the Ravensburger Tor, it received its current shape in 1608. It is squatter and more powerful than the latter and has retained some of its original Gothic character. There are remains of the Gothic painting in the doorway. The various tower rooms have recently been restored and furnished. They are used by local clubs.
