Even before the era, the Frisians erected hills to keep their feet dry. The Hogebeintum mound is the highest in the Netherlands (8.8 meters). All kinds of special objects have been found in this mound.

Hiking

Around the year 1000, the mounds gradually lost their significance due to the construction of the sea dikes. From the second half of the 19th century they were often excavated because of the fertile soil. The church left a steep and striking part of the Hegebeintum mound.
