Gugelhammer was first documented in 1310 as a farm. In the course of history Gugelhammer had many changing owners. Since 1709 it was a late medieval armor operation in particular cannon balls were made. Therefore, the name "Kugelhammer". The nearby water-rich Gauchsbach offered the best conditions for water-powered businesses over the centuries.

It's worth driving/pushing along the narrow path behind the castle: The spot on the Gauchsbach, the view of the castle from behind and, above all, the staircase made of wide sandstone steps, which simply ends in nowhere above the creek, together create an enchanted place and are worth more than a look!
