      The stone says:

Drohmberg legend of the seven slain kings of the Wends

On seven stones sat in the field, free and wide,
surrounded by the army of the Wends, ready for battle,
the Wend Kings seven, counseling, like war
end, that honor and victory will fall to yours.

No sooner was the council ended than the battle began,
hey, how the blood of the fighters ran from wide wounds!
Even if every man in the German army was a hero,
the Wends claimed the disputed field.

But when the night ends the bloody battle of arms,
one heard, instead of the jubilation of the Wends lamentation,
for on the battlefield lay red with their blood,
swords in fists, the seven kings dead.

With their golden crowns they are buried in the grave,
and every king was covered with the same stone,
then he sat in council ere the battle broke out
and he won the mortal wound as the prize of victory.

Not far from Ebendörfel in Sorbenwendeland,
on a wooded height, today called the Drohmberg,
are those royal tombs still visible to this day,
recognizable by the stones that stand there as marks.
