Nordic walking

This stone tower was built in 1608 to house a windmill. It was closed down in the 19th century - the tower became a ruin. Around 1912 the remains were structurally secured and finally renovated and rebuilt. Since 1936, the former windmill has served as a water tower for the municipality of Merzenich. Today the premises can be used for events. The tower is a clearly visible landmark and can be recognized from afar.

The mill was built in 1608 as a stone tower windmill. [1] In 1822 the building was called a grinding mill. The owner was the widow Schoogh. The windmill could only work about four months a year. Therefore there was a lot of debts at the mill. In 1895 it was referred to as a former mill, so it was already shut down. The ruin was rebuilt and renovated in 1912. From 1936 the former windmill was used as a water tower. Today the tower is used for events.
