The memorial commemorates the fallen soldiers of both world wars from the parish of Hohenwestedt. The circular structure consists of field stones on a raised hill with two staircases and 16 pillars. The plaques bear the names of the fallen soldiers from the 16 parishes of the parish. The design was created by the Berlin Imperial Horticultural Director Albert Brodersen out of solidarity with his adopted home of Hohenwestedt and in memory of his fallen son.
