In 1920 the bandstand was installed to replace an older one. That version of untreated wood turned out not to withstand the elements. A postcard from 1890 shows the old bandstand completely overgrown with ivy. It was therefore no longer suitable for performances at the end of the nineteenth century.

The current bandstand was renovated in 2005. A year earlier, the building in the heart of the Lage Singelbolwerk was almost destroyed by arson. Zaltbommel had the bandstand restored so that it would look perfect again during the Vestingstedendagen, a national event that Zaltbommel hosted that year.
